PITEF, the smart mate for micromobility

A Teoresi Group project
Project

PITEF is an efficient, autonomous driving platform that can navigate an indoor space with ease, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and connectivity. It uses advanced algorithms for indoor autonomous driving and personal mobility technologies, and it is connected and IoT based. To test all the functionalities of the platform, a simulation environment has been implemented.

Scenario

PITEF (as the Italian acronym says „PIattaforma TEcnologica di Filiera“: Supply Chain Technology Platform), was born and specifically tailored to provide mobility solutions that cater to the unique needs of people with disabilities or impaired mobility but can be used for many other different micro-mobility applications (for example logistics in big storehouses, shopping mall, airport, or hospital, or in the case of YoYo battery swapping) making it a game-changer in the world of the smart and connected mobility.

Challenges
  • The development of algorithms to enable the vehicle to navigate through a variety of indoor environments
  • Ensuring that the platform meets the highest safety standards
  • Ensuring that the vehicle can communicate seamlessly with other devices in the environment.
  • The realization of the simulation environment: it needs accurately to replicate a range of indoor environments and scenarios to ensure that the platform is tested thoroughly and can operate in a wide range of situations.

Our added Values

Autonomous driving technology is typically associated with a high price tag. Teoresi, leveraging its expertise in embedded and sensing technologies, has developed an innovative and cost-effective solution that prioritizes quality and ensures rapid development time.

Results

The code has been optimized for efficiency to achieve autonomous navigation of a vehicle in indoor environments. This has been accomplished using cost-effective hardware, motion and perception sensors (Time of Flight, camera and ultrasounds), and IoT devices which make navigation systems safer and more efficient.

The platform’s core design mainly centers on enabling greater freedom of movement through advanced stability control systems, ensuring a secure and stable ride. Moreover, the platform integrates the latest technological advances in the Internet of Things (IoT) industry, which allows it to connect with the environment seamlessly. This technology-driven approach facilitates real-time interaction and enhanced accessibility, enabling users to stay connected and engaged with the world around them.
