Turin, August 11th 2020. Teoresi S.p.A., the leading Italian company of the Teoresi Group, strengthens its technological and business partnership with ALBA Robot.
Based in Turin, ALBA Robot, a start-up born in 2019 as a spinoff of Moschini S.p.A. and Teoresi S.p.A., has in fact worked on the development of a platform that would make wheelchairs smart, autonomous and vocally controllable. An innovation designed to improve the independence of people with reduced mobility, especially in hospitals, airports and shopping malls.
Teoresi, which had contributed to two important technological innovations of the project (the ADAS – Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and the implementation of voice interfaces based on Amazon Alexa), on July 29th further consolidated the partnership with ALBA Robot by acquiring some of its shares through its investee company, B3ForIn S.r.l., subsidiary of Moschini S.p.A., Co.mec. S.p.A. and Teoresi itself.
“ALBA project took its first steps in 2017 thanks to the intuition of Andrea Segato, Head of Market Development in Teoresi Group”, explains Valter Brasso President and CEO of Teoresi, “representing for our company an important challenge that allowed us to put in the field our competences in favor of sustainable innovation to safeguard life and social inclusion”.
“The entry of B3ForIn into Alba Robot is the natural conclusion of a path that began with the support of Moschini S.p.A. and the industrial context of Teoresi” clarifies Andrea Segato himself, now co-founder and CEO of ALBA Robot. “Having the support of a company like Teoresi reassures you when you have to deal with frontier technologies. I am sure it will be a fundamental step for ALBA Robot in reaching the goals we have set for ourselves“.
The news of the acquisition of the shares follows another important announcement: the one related to the selection of ALBA Robot as the only Italian company admitted to the 2020 edition of Alexa Next Stage, a virtual program organized by Amazon and Techstars, designed to support start-ups who intend to integrate Alexa with their technology.
The path taken within Alexa Next Stage will culminate on August 11th2020 with the Innovation Showcase Release Celebration, a virtual ceremony in which representatives of the companies participating in the program will present the recent progress made. In fact, in the last eight weeks, the seven companies have worked with a global network of mentors, who have helped them to explore together the potentiality of Alexa.
